Following a Legal Letter from ICAN Attorneys, New Hampshire Hospital Rescinds COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate for Kidney Transplants

ICAN is pleased to announce that Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, has ended its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for kidney transplant patients. If you recall, in December 2024, ICAN’s attorneys sent a letter to the hospital, warning that it was in violation of New Hampshire state law by withholding treatment based on a patient’s vaccination status.

Buttressed by additional pressure from the NH Attorney General, ICAN is happy to report that Dartmouth Health has changed its policy. While the hospital predictably denies violating the law, it did acknowledge the need to change, stating: “[O]ur transplant providers have reviewed transplant program policy requiring COVID vaccination for kidney transplants, and have decided to remove this requirement at this time.”

Astute readers will note that this change appears to apply only to kidney transplants and to vaccination against COVID-19. It remains to be seen if other transplant patients will still face challenges. Rest assured if they do, ICAN will again take action. While it is hard to believe that hospitals are still pushing this kind of dangerous rights-crushing policy in 2025, ICAN won’t rest until all vaccine mandates are ended and every American has the right to informed consent.
